Curatorial Research Bureau
The Curatorial Research Bureau (CRB) was an experimental educational initiative aimed at new modes of curatorial learning and engagement outside the classroom led by CCA Chair of the Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice James Voorhies. In a two-year collaboration (September 2018-April 2020) between the California College of the Arts Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA), CRB operated as a bookshop, exhibition site, public program, and learning site at YBCA. Over the course of these two years, CRB welcomed a host of leading guest artists, curators, writers, publishers, designers, thinkers and educators for both public programs as well as academic seminars. CCA curatorial graduate students also gained access to YBCA’s operations as an invaluable learning opportunity at one of San Francisco’s leading arts and culture organizations.
