CCA 2019 Gala Honoring Wayne Thiebaud
California College of the Arts (CCA) hosts an annual spring gala to raise funds for student scholarships and honors an individual for their exemplary dedication to education and the arts. In 2019, CCA’s gala honoring Wayne Thiebaud successfully raised over $1.2 million for the student scholarship fund and brought together some of San Francisco’s leading arts patrons and professionals to celebrate his life and career. The evening featured remarks by highly-acclaimed scholar Steve Nash, an exclusive video interview with KQED’s Michael Krasny, and a surprise auction of nine pen-and-ink drawings from Mr. Thiebaud’s personal sketchbook.
Chaired by CCA trustees Cathy Podell, Stanlee Gatti, and honorary committee chair Lorna Meyer Calas, the event welcomed 358 guests CCA’s San Francisco campus and—thanks to the generosity of long-standing patrons, leaders from San Francisco art institutions, prominent gallery directors, keen art collectors, and notable cultural and society figures in the Bay Area—the evening was a tremendous success.
